Mini DIY: Jazz It Up Envelope Liners

A printer closed shop in a nearby village and gave away tons of plain white mini envelopes and cards. One way to jazz up a simple envelope is to make some liners. I experimented with different weight and textured paper.  For paper lovers, surely you’ve collected gift wrap or other types of snazzy ephemera. You’ll be able to create envelopes you’d find hard to get. I had some light weight floral wrapping paper I decided to up-cycle tucked away. The colors popped and coordinated with my letterpress baby notecard card design.

IT: Un tipografico ha chiuso il negozio nelle vicinanze così ha dato via un sacco di buste e bigliettini. Un modo per abbellire una semplice busta è fare una fodera. Ho sperimentato con diverse grammature e tipi di carta. Per gli amanti della carta, sicuramente collezionare carta non più utile al momento (carta da impagliatura, depliant, reviste, etc...) aiuta nel processo. Ho trovato carta da impagliatura floreale con colori che si coordinavano con il mio design di auguri per bambini fatto in letterpress.

HOW TO: parts 1&2

Choose your paper, I up-cycled lightweight gift wrapping paper

Choose your envelope  

Open up the flap and trace paper around envelope - this will be your initial template for your liner

Scegliere una busta

Aprire la linguetta della busta e tracciare intorno la busta - questa sarà il template iniziale.

Roughly estimate .40 cm on both sides of the flap and on top, then measure more precisely with a ruler and trim paper. 

(You want to trim just a bit of paper off both sides so your liner fits comfortably and not too snug inside your envelope). 

Measure 1,5 cm from the bottom and trim again. 

(This ensures your liner won’t cover the glued part of your envelope).

Stima 0,40 cm su tutti e due i lati della carta (fodera) e in alto, poi misurare più preciso con un righello e rifilare. 

(Importante rifilare un po su lati cosi la fodera sta dentro la busta facilmente e non troppo stretta).

Misurare 1,50 cm dal sotto e tagliare di nuovo. 

(Questo garantisce che la fodera non copre la parte incollata della busta).

Finally trace the liner shape onto cardboard or heavy stock paper.

Use this as a definite template to cut other liners from.

Crease liner flap along with envelope flap with a bone creaser then glue them together. 

I prefer to use a glue stick as I get clean results.

Finalmente tracciare la fodera su carta spessa per creare un template definitivo. 

Questo serve per tagliare altre fodere.

Piegare la fodera insieme alla linguetta della busta con una stecca prima di incolare insieme.
