'The Gun Show' are crowdsourced posters by artists rallied by Creative Action Network to give voice to curbing gun violence. It was a fun and thought provoking project I contributed for. It gave me the chance to think about what guns mean in our culture and to myself--one of my favorite directors is Quentin Tarantino after all. His style isn’t exactly shy about using violence and guns to get his point across.
And so it seems we are at once in love with the representation of guns--at the way its point cracks the surface of the paper, and repulsed once the imperfections show through. It’s the salty sweet effect that can make something not just more palatable but enjoyable.
